(JUNEAU) The Dodgeland School District is getting ready for an influx of about 150 new students from Hustisford who will attend school in Juneau next year, even though they will remain Hustisford district students.
Dodgeland superintendent Todd Greco said the arrangement will necessitate hiring new teachers. Some of them may be displaced teachers from Hustisford.
“We’re…giving them an opportunity to interview with us, but falling short of saying ‘if you’re from Hustisford, you’re guaranteed a position,'” said Greco. “We’re certainly giving them an extra look.”
Hustisford has a one-year agreement with Dodgeland. After that, Hustisford may merge with another district. Greco told Daily Dodge it appears more likely that Hustisford will dissolve. The tiny district has been plagued by low enrollment, dwindling state aid, and unsuccessful referendums.
