Dodgeland Football Preview

The Dodgeland High School football program has a new head coach with a familiar face ahead of their season.  Former defensive coordinator, Steve Good, will be taking over the Head Coach vacancy along with the offensive play calling. Coach Good hopes to change the way defenses view the Trojans’ offense.

“I have seen defenses stack the box against us. Sometimes having 10 people in the box and daring us to run.” Good told ESPN Beaver Dam. “It’s been an uphill battle over the years for us if we get down a touchdown or so and we can’t keep pace with some of the other teams we play because we are so run heavy. Doesn’t mean we’ll go away from the run; and we’re not certainly going to be a pass-heavy offense. I want to be as balanced as we can be. If I could, ideally we would be at 50-50.”

While the Trojans haven’t had the success they have hoped for the past couple seasons, Coach Good seems excited about the shift in identity in his team.

“We’re trying to establish a new era in Dodgeland football,” Good said. “I think teams look at their schedule and kinda just mark Dodgeland as a win and we want to change that thought process for the teams we play and they know they’re gonna get 4 hard quarters of football from us.”

Dodgeland opens up their season on August 23rd when they host Deerfield.
