(Dodge County) Fewer people died on Wisconsin roads last year when compared to 2022.
There were 572 fatal traffic crashes in 2023, according to statistics from the state’s Department of Transportation. That number is 22 fewer than in 2022 and eight less than the five-year average. Dodge County saw 11 traffic deaths last year, the exact same figure reported two years ago and matches their average between 2019 and 2023.
Fond du Lac County had seven more fatalities, going from 12 in 2022 to 19 in 2023. Green Lake County held steady with one death in each of the last two years. Jefferson County had 12 deaths, four more than in 2022. In Columbia County, seven people were killed in vehicle crashes last year which is three less than in 2022.
