(Juneau) The Dodge County Veterans Service Office will be looking to fill an open position. Dodge County Veteran Service Officer Tom Fischer says Benefit Specialist Joseph Terrell, or Benji, will be leaving the department to work for Veterans Affairs. During a recent appearance on Community Comment, Fischer praised Benji for his commitment to the veterans of Dodge County.
โBenjiโs been there for about five-six-years and I was talking to himโฆI completely believeโฆIโve seen the numbers and he is absolutely amazing when it comes to assisting veterans with their claims especiallyโฆour estimates he probably brought about an additional eight-million-dollars in either healthcare benefits or compensation to the veterans of Dodge County,โ says Fischer. โHeโll be missed.โ
Fisher says those interested in learning more should reach out by calling their office. He notes that their work is worth doing.
โItโs an extremely rewarding position,โ says Fischer. โA lot of stuff that goes into itโฆa lot of nuances you got to learn. Fortunately, Iโve been โ even before I started โ Iโve been doing a lot of this stuff through my veterans service organizations and so, I think I can train pretty well. This training that they put you through, the basic and advance, is outstanding. Iโm really hoping to get some quality candidates andโฆwell apply.โ
Fischer says the opening is for a full-time position and primarily focuses on veterans’ claims. He adds that those interested do not need to have military experience and there are no degree requirements, but an Associates is recommended.
