Dodge County Treasurer Highlighting Resources For Delinquent Taxpayers

(Juneau) The Dodge County treasurer is highlighting resources that may be available for delinquent taxpayers. Kris Keith says if you are behind on your real estate taxes, then expect a โ€˜Notice of Real Estate Tax Dueโ€™ to arrive in your mailbox this month (May).

She notes that while the treasurerโ€™s office does not offer any financial assistance, or interest or penalty forgiveness, they can steer you to some resources that may help. If you are a veteran, you may be eligible to receive the Veterans and Surviving Spouses Property Tax Credit. Call Dodge Countyโ€™s Veterans Services Office at 920-386-3799 to learn more.

Another program Keith highlights is the Critical Assistance Program and loans through the Foundation for Rural Housing. She says the program is currently closed but will reopen in June. Applicantsโ€™ income must be under the 50-percent County Median Income. For more information, contact the Dodge County Aging and Disability Resource Center at 920-386-3580.

Keith notes that just because you receive a notice, does not mean you are at risk for tax foreclosure. Click HERE for a link to more resources.
