Dodge County Sheriff Shares Agency’s Role In Tracking Down Loose Bull

(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff provided some insight into their role in tracking down a bull that got loose earlier this month. The animal went missing on November 10th from the Milwaukee Stockyards, located somewhat between Reeseville and Lowell in southwest Dodge County. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says his agency did not have much involvement with the bull itself.

โ€œThe bull was really the [Milwaukee] Stockyards,โ€ Schmidt says. โ€œThe bull got out and we assisted with searching and we put something out on social media, and suddenly it was all about us, and it really was the stockyards and the bull. But unfortunately, a bull got out.โ€

Schmidt says residents had been asking him how much the bull weighed, but he could not provide any specifics on the bull itself. He adds the department gets calls reporting loose livestock all the time.

โ€œMostly from motorists who are driving by [because] nobody wants to hit the cows,โ€ says Schmidt. โ€œAnd so, we deal with these animals that are out all the time. On a weekly basis I would say thereโ€™s cattle out somewhere in the county.โ€

The sheriff says that the office will respond to people who need help and assist them with getting their cattle locked back up.
