Dodge County Sheriff Says Foreign Exchange Student Is In Need Of Host Family

(Juneau) A foreign exchange student coming to Beaver Dam is in need of a host family. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt brought attention to the search during his recent appearance on WBEVโ€™s Community Comment.

He says they are looking for a family to host the student for three or four months beginning roughly in August. Schmidt says they would then need a second and possibly a third host family to take care of the student during the second half of the school year. However, if a family is interested in taking the student in for the whole year, they can do that as well. The search is not limited to the Beaver Dam-area, but the sheriff notes that it is preferred they live close by.

Schmidt says this can be a great opportunity. He says many families who have hosted a foreign exchange student have remained in contact with them and others who have been on the fence, say afterwards how well it worked out.

Schmidt says they are hoping to have a host family soon because if they do not, the student may have to be turned away. He says a background check is conducted before a family is selected to host the student.

Schmidt says there is not much information available at the moment of the students’ age, gender, or where they come from. But he does note that foreign exchange students are usually the age of a junior in high school.
