Dodge County Sheriff Denies U.S. Citizen Was Detained at Jail

(JUNEAU) Local authorities say they want to know how an Illinois woman detained by Homeland Security in Chicago ended up in Dodge County recently.

News accounts from over the weekend said Sunny Naqvi was detained at Oโ€™Hare airport after returning to the U.S. from Turkey, held for roughly two days, and released in Juneau. She allegedly hitchhiked several miles to a hotel, where her sister came to get her.

The Department of Homeland Security disputes that story. While immigration detainees are held at the Dodge County Jail, Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a social media post that no females have been recently admitted or released from the jail on behalf of the federal government.

Schmidt said he would like to hear from Naqvi or anyone else who knows what really happened.
