Dodge County Treasurer Kris Keith is reminding taxpayers that second installment real estate tax payments are due July 31st.
Keith says payments are due to the Dodge County Treasurer, not local treasurers. Mailed payments must have a July postmark or earlier to be considered timely.
There are three payment options available. Payments can be mailed to the Dodge County Treasurer at the Administration Building, 127 East Oak Street, Juneau, Wisconsin, 53039. Taxpayers who want a receipt should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Keith says the U.S. Postal Service recommends mailing first-class mail at least seven days before the due date to help ensure on-time delivery. She says second installment payments must have a July postmark date to be timely.
Payments can also be made in person at the Treasurer’s Office from 8am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. The office is located on the first floor of the Dodge County Administration Building. Visitors should enter on Miller Street. Cash and check payments are accepted in person, but credit and debit cards are not accepted at the office.
Online and phone payments can be made by credit card, debit card, or electronic check through the third-party vendor ACI Payments, Inc. Fees apply. The county says e-checks carry an approximately three-dollar flat fee, while credit and debit card payments are around three-percent. Taxpayers can call ACI at 800-272-9829 or go online to acipayonline.com. The jurisdiction code for Dodge County is 5936, and taxpayers should enter their property number or numbers.
Keith says a recent U.S. Postal Service rule change means mail may not be postmarked when it is received at the post office, but rather a day or two later at the processing facility. She recommends taxpayers who are mailing payments take them to the post office counter and ask the postmaster to hand-postmark the envelope.
Keith says a July postmark means that regardless of when the Treasurer’s Office receives the payment, it will not be delinquent.
