Dodge County Remains In The Low COVID Community Level

(Wisconsin) Wisconsin ended last week with 343 people hospitalized with COVID. The Wisconsin Hospital Association says 53 of those patients were in intensive care units on Friday. Those numbers are about where the state was at the beginning of last week.

Dodge County is one of 19 counties to have low community levels, which means masks are not required. Fond du Lac, Columbia, Jefferson, and Green Lake counties are in the medium category.

So far, 52.7-percent of Dodge Count residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine while 50.5-percent have completed the vaccination series. Just under 28-percent have had an additional booster dose.

Meanwhile, masks are again being urged in public indoor spaces in 18 Wisconsin counties. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says COVID cases have been ticking-upward for about a month.

Milwaukee County officials say they are seeing more people in local hospitals due to the virus. The mask statement is merely a recommendation, and not a mandate.

Also, a new report shows where most of the federal coronavirus aid money for Wisconsin schools has been spent so far. Washington has sent $2-billion-dollars to Wisconsin earmarked for education since the start of the pandemic.

A new report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum finds most of that money โ€“ thatโ€™s been spent โ€“ has gone to teachers and administrators. The group says another big chunk went to technology and personal protective equipment. Most of the $2-billion-dollars has not yet been spent.
