(Juneau) Dodge County’s public health officer is resigning. The last day on the job for Abby Sauer is January 6. In a letter to officials, Dodge County Administrator Jim Mielke said that Sauer will be transitioning to an employment opportunity where she will be using her nursing skills in a non-public health setting. Mielke says she has been a great asset to the county while enduring significant challenges in the past 18-to-20 months during the pandemic. Mielke says (quote) “through it all she demonstrated her professionalism and strength in the face of uncalled for personal attacks.” Human Service Director Becky Bell will begin an immediate recruitment for a Public Health Officer and is reviewing options for a potential interim appointment.
