Dodge County Public Health Offers Hot Weather Tips

(Juneau) With high temperatures expected over much of Wisconsin this week, Dodge County Public Health is reminding residents to be proactive. Public Health Officer Abby Sauer says, โ€œitโ€™s important to stay cool, hydrated, and informed.โ€ She recommends people stay in air conditioning; check on loved ones; keep an eye on pets; avoid the hottest part of the day; and beware of hot cars. Sauer says anyone can be affected by hot weather though in Wisconsin people ages 15-34 are the most likely to report to the Emergency Room after getting sick from the heat. Those who come down with symptoms like feeling weak, dizzy, nauseous and muscle cramping should move into air conditioning, get under a fan, drink water and put on cool washcloths. If the symptoms worsen or do not improve, Sauer says itโ€™s time to go to the emergency room.
