(IRON RIDGE) A Dodge County meat processor is getting grant support from the state. Malterer Meats in Iron Ridge is receiving a Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant to help purchase a new machine for clipping and sealing meats.
The grants are aimed at helping those in the industry with projects to modernize and grow their business, produce new products, or expand their markets.
The state’s newest budget includes several substantial investments in Wisconsin’s agricultural industry, as well as additional $1-million to bolster the meat processor grant program.
In the most recent grant cycle, a total of $250,000 was available with a maximum of $50,000 for each project. Grant recipients are required to provide a 100-percent match of the grant. The state says there were a total of 51 grant requests totaling more than $2.2-million-dollars.
