Dodge County Jobless Numbers Stay Steady In July

(Dodge County) Regional jobless claims saw little to no change in the seventh month of the year.

The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 2.8-percent in July, the exact same rate it was in June. Last year, the number was 2.7-percent. Dodge County jumped one spot in the statewide unemployment ranking to 9th.

Columbia County jobless numbers also saw no month-to-month change, coming in at 2.9-percent last month. A year ago, the figure was 2.8-percent.

Jefferson Countyโ€™s unemployment rate saw a two-tenths of a percent improvement from June to July, going to 2.9-percent. In 2023, the number was 2.8-percent.

Fond du Lac County saw a stark contrast in their unemployment rate, going from three-percent in June to 4.7-percent in July, the third highest rate in Wisconsin. Recent layoffs at Mercury Marine and Spectrum Charter Communications are to blame.

Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was three-percent in July.ย
