(Dodge County) Regional jobless claims saw some slight improvements in the eighth month of the year.
The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 2.5-percent in August, a three-tenths of a percent improvement from July. Last year, the number was 2.9-percent. Dodge County did fall to 28th in the statewide unemployment ranking, which is tied with multiple other counties, after being ranked ninth in July.
Columbia County jobless numbers went from 2.9-percent in July to 2.3-percent in August. A year ago, the figure was 2.9-percent.
Jefferson County’s unemployment rate saw a four-tenths of a percent improvement from July to August, going to 2.5-percent. In 2023, the number was 3.2-percent.
Fond du Lac County did see some improvement after layoffs at Mercury Marine and Spectrum Charter Communications impacted their numbers in July, going from 4.7-percent to 2.9-percent. Last year, the rate was 3.1-percent.
Statewide, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.9-percent in August.
