Dodge County Housing Authority Completes New Affordable Housing Units with State Grant

(Juneau) The Dodge County Housing Authority (DCHA) has completed the Sunset View Duplex development in Juneau. The project was funded in part by a Neighborhood Investment Fund grant from the city.

The grant is part of the governorโ€™s Neighborhood Investment Fund Program, administered by the Wisconsin Department of Administration with American Rescue Plan Act funds from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Governor Tony Evers was at the ribbon cutting event and gave his thoughts on the project and what it means to see the grantโ€™s impact in action.

โ€œThis is a great example of people working together, using money from different sources and getting the community behind it. This is really important work and the people of the county and the people of Juneau did a great job making sure it is really high quality. It connects the dots between schools and early childhood and makes sure people have affordable housing.โ€

The Dodge County Housing Authorityโ€™s Executive Director Donna Braun also spoke to the importance of grants like this to cities like Juneau.ย

โ€œWell it makes all the difference. Construction is expensive, property is hard to come by, and things get more and more expensive every day. Without the grant we would never have been able to develop this project.โ€

The 30 new duplex-style units offer two-and-three-bedroom layouts with 1.5-baths, open-concept living, luxury vinyl plank flooring, granite countertops, and energy-efficient appliances. The units also feature rooftop solar panels to help reduce utility costs. Located across from Dodgeland School and within walking distance of shops and businesses, these units are available at rental rates ranging from $900 to $1,100 per month, including water and sewer.

This project was made possible through collaboration with multiple partners, including the Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation, WHEDA housing tax credits, the Dodge County ARPA grant, and the Focus on Energy Solar program.

DCHA invites the public to an open house from 10:00 AM to Noon on Saturday, February 8th, at 338 S. Western Ave, Units 103 and 201.
