(Juneau) The Dodge County Board’s Executive Committee backed a resolution this week supporting the public health department. It comes at a time when Health and Human Services is struggling to find qualified workers to apply for open positions.
Director Becky Bell says the COVID pandemic has been (quote) “a considerable stressor” and a reason for several recent resignations. She says with their recent employee recruitment and retention challenges it would be nice for the board to send a message that they support her staff for their work during the pandemic.
Executive Committee Member Don Hilgendorf told Bell that her department has been doing exemplary work. He says the last two years have been very tough on the public health department.
County Supervisor Donna Maly says the board needs to support its public health workers. She says anything they can do to help public health is important because it makes the community better.
The resolution now goes to the Dodge County Board for a final vote.
