(Dodge County) There were several contested races on local ballots throughout Dodge County.
The mayor’s seat was up for grabs in the city of Columbus. Joe Hammer was the top vote getter with 1,008 votes to Ian Gray’s 733.
Columbus also had a contested aldermanic race in District Three. Molly Finkler finished with 296 votes to Nathan Anfinson’s 185.
There was a contested aldermanic race in Fox Lake. Peter Hartzheim, who had 71 of the 101 votes cast, withstood a challenge from Bob Dolan.
Jason Westphal topped Karissa Smits, 132 votes to 110, for aldermanic District One in Waupun.
On the Watertown School Board, District One incumbent Dana Davis withstood a challenge from Joe Kallas. Davis had 505 votes, Kallas finished with 349. The vote tally was a close one in District Three which saw Robert Smail finishing with 317 votes to Nick McGriff’s 315. In District Seven, Eric Schmid was the top vote getter with 224. He finished ahead of Lisa Cutsforth who garnered 204 votes. In District Nine, Myron Moldenhaeur had 336 votes to Betsy Bright’s 287.
There were no contested races on the Beaver Dam common council or school board, but there was a contested race for Beaver Dam Municipal Court Judge. Voting results between Dodge and Fond du Lac counties saw Todd Snow elected to the bench. Snow finished with 5,102 votes. He defeated Maryann Schacht who finished with 4,216. The multi-jurisdictional court handles municipal matters and traffic infractions for the cities of Beaver Dam, Mayville, and Waupun along with the towns of Beaver Dam, Ashippun, Rubicon and the village of Neosho.
Voters in the Hustisford School District voted down a $19.5-million-dollar facilities referendum. There were 962 no votes cast to 638 yes votes. The Hustisford School District is in all or parts of the towns of Rubicon, Clyman, Lebanon and Hubbard along with the town and village of Hustisford.
An operational referendum in the Horicon School District was defeated by voters with 1,107 no votes to 798 yes votes. It sought to exceed revenue limits by $800-thousand dollars per year for five years. The Horicon School District is in all or parts of Burnett, Hubbard, Oak Grove, Williamstown and Iron Ridge.
Jennie Patrykus and Dustin Gassner finished as the top two vote getters after votes were tallied between Dodge and Fond du Lac counties for two open seats on the Waupun School District Board. Patrykus finished with 1,955 while Gassner had 1,298. Stephen Chene had 1,199 votes.
There were two races for Dodgeland School Board. Bruce Haan was elected to an at large seat with 662 votes. He defeated Carla Nico who had 631 votes. Nick Rennhack and Stacy Schmitt are the top two vote getters for two City of Juneau/Town of Oak Grove seats; Rennhack with 819 votes and Schmitt with 796. Craig Bunkoske, who was also vying for a seat, finished third with 376 votes.
There was a village trustee race in Randolph where three open seats were up for grabs. Those elected were Jaime Woreck, who had 234 votes, John Casey, finished with 208 votes, and James Jahn, had 175 votes. Carroll Swain was the low vote getter with 133.
In the village of Neosho, Mike Weynand with 108 votes and Liz Desmore with 77 votes were elected to two open trustee seats. Samantha Persik, 75 votes, and Jim Villwock, 71 votes, finished in third and fourth place respectively.
There was a race for Town Board Chairman in Emmet between Steve Faltersack Jr. and William Nass. Faltersack Jr. finished with the most votes, 289, to Nass’ 244 votes.
Richard Walter was the top vote getter in a supervisor race in the town of Emmet, beating out Bernadette Walter; 269 votes to 213 votes.
Tim Baier was elected chairperson in the town of Herman, finishing ahead of Joseph Benishek. Baier had 60-percent of the vote, or 294 ballots cast, to Benishek’s 191 votes.
In the Town of Calamus, Jake Rake topped George Stegner in Tuesday night’s election; 230 votes to 116 votes.
A Town of Chester contest saw Nick Maas defeat Earl Figge. Maas finished with 106 votes to Figge’s 79.
In Westford, Jenice Henderson finished with 269 votes, defeating John Bordak who had 138 votes.
