(Beaver Dam) Voting is open for the election of two new members on the five-member Wisconsin Cherry Board. Cherry growers across the state of Wisconsin have until June 15 to send their votes in.
The elected candidates will be on the board for a three-year term that starts on July 1st of 2024 and ends on June 30th of 2027.
There we no nominations submitted by the March 29th or April 19th deadlines, so the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is going forward with the election without any official nominees.
This means that write-ins will make up the submissions for the two vacant seats.
Cherry producers should have received their ballots the week of May 10. If anyone doesn’t have a ballot by May 20, they should contact the DATCP’s Market Orders Program at DATCPMarketOrders@wisconsin.gov.
