(Waupun) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an inmate death at Waupun Correctional. Read the full press release from the sheriff’s office:
At 7:25 am on Monday, August 5, 2024, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Waupun Correctional Institution regarding an inmate death that occurred. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating this death and the initial investigation is indicating that this was likely a self-inflicted incident.
The initial investigation also shows that at the time of discovery, staff responded rapidly and appropriately, providing medical aid in an effort to save the inmate’s life.
This case remains an open investigation as we evaluate all aspects of the incident. No further updates will be available in this case until it has come to a conclusion.
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections is fully cooperating with the investigation as is standard practice between our agencies.
