(Madison) The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding all boaters to monitor their speed and control their wake, as it can negatively affect other boaters and aquatic systems and cause shoreline erosion. Lieutenant Darren Kuhn, D.N.R. Boating Law Administrator, says that wake responsibility is not only about safety, but also about respect for the stateโs beautiful natural resources and fellow water enthusiasts.ย ย
He urges boaters to be mindful of their speed and wake size, especially in crowded or sensitive areas. Some helpful reminders include respecting no wake zones. These areas are specifically designed to protect wildlife and reduce shoreline erosion. It is also important to teach your passengers.
Ensure all aboard your boat understand wake safety and the rules. A link to more information about boating safety is available HERE.
