DNR Accepting Nominations For 2026 Recycling Excellence Awards

MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is accepting nominations for the 2026 Recycling Excellence Awards through Sept. 14.

The annual awards recognize communities, tribes, nonprofits, schools and businesses across Wisconsin for outstanding recycling, waste reduction and food waste diversion efforts.

Awards are presented in four categories: overall program, projects and initiatives, innovation, and special events. Organizations may nominate themselves or be nominated by others. Supporting materials such as outreach examples, data and high-resolution photos are encouraged as part of the application.

According to the DNR, past recipients have expanded recycling collection services, implemented waste reduction programs and diverted significant amounts of recyclable and compostable materials from landfills. Winners will be featured on the DNR’s website and social media platforms.

Nomination forms, award category information and past winner profiles are available on the Wisconsin Recycling Excellence Awards webpage.
