(Juneau) Additional details behind last week’s gas leak in Juneau have been released. According to the crash report, a motorist heading northbound on Highway 26 last Wednesday afternoon reported feeling ill. He (quote) “vomited in his car and apparently passed out as he did not remember anything after.” The vehicle drifted into the ditch, continued northbound, and struck an above-ground maintenance section of an underground natural gas main. Authorities had to evacuate a one-mile radius around the area to ensure the safety of residents. Gas service was shut off for around 1,100 homes in the Juneau-area while crews worked on repairs.
