(Beaver Dam) The reconstruction of the Beaver Dam High School is on-time and on-budget, though some areas of the campus may still need attention when school starts after Labor Day. Voters approved a $49-million-dollar referendum in the fall of 2016, primarily for an overhaul of the high school campus. Superintendent Mark DiStefano says major construction has wrapped up and the contractor is working on finishing touches. That includes painting and waxing of ceilings and floors, among other things. He says furniture deliveries are starting to come in and items are being moved into classrooms.
The referendum also allowed for security enhancements at select elementary buildings and the middle school, including an extra layer of secure doors and โ in some cases – the relocation of main offices closer to the entrance. DiStefano says work on Washington and Prairie View elementary schools and the middle school is also on-time and on-budget. He says the projects are a good example of meeting security requirements without taking away from the original construction and architecture.
A formal dedication ceremony and open house is planned at the Beaver Dam High School on Saturday, September 22 from 2pm to 4pm.
