DCSO Reports ‘Successful’ Drug Take Back Event

(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says their bi-annual Drug Take Back event was a success. The agency collected over 2.3-pounds of unused or expired medications.

Waupun Police Chief Jeremy Rasch recently explained on Community Comment what happens once the prescription medications are collected.

“And the [Department of Justice] basically fills…in our region…fills a huge box truck full of prescription medications…it’s kind of impressive how many boxes they can fit in this,” says Rasch. “And then they take it to an incinerator over…I believe it’s in Barron County, Wisconsin I think it’s the only one in the state…and then everything gets incinerated.”

Law enforcement officials say the public does not have to wait for the next event to dispose of unwanted medications safely.

There are several 24/7 drug drop-off boxes available across Dodge County including at the sheriff’s office in Juneau as well as police departments in Beaver Dam, Waupun, Juneau, Mayville, Horicon, Columbus, and Watertown.
