David J. Kohn

David J. Kohn, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home near Reeseville on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

David was born on February 20, 1935, in Reeseville to Arnold and Elda (Schaller) Kohn. He graduated from Waterloo High School in 1953. On August 2, 1958, David married the love of his life, Helene Maas. Just weeks later, he entered the United States Army, serving his country with pride. David and Helene shared 65 years of marriage before her passing in 2023. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and farming. Following his military service, David and Helene made their home on the family farm on Highway G, where they farmed side by side for nearly 65 years and raised their four children. Farming was not only Davidโ€™s livelihood but also his passion. He harvested his final soybean crop in the fall of 2025, marking the end of a lifetime dedicated to the land. David was an avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan and enjoyed keeping a close watch over the countryside he loved. One of his favorite pastimes was taking Gator and car rides to check on his crops and those of his neighbors, always staying connected to the farming community that meant so much to him.

David will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his lifelong love of farming.

David is survived by his four children, Joy (Tim) Sellnow, Sue (Mike) Knowles, Holly Kohn and Kent (Laurie) Kohn; five grandchildren, Alex (Meghan) Knowles, Hannah Knowles, Krista (Erik Lee) Knowles, Jenna (Nick Hotmar) Kohn and Christopher Kohn; three great grandchildren, Gabriella, Matthew and Noah; four brothers, Tom, John, Robert and Steven; a sister, Donna Winker; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Helene; his parents; brothers, Gene, Glenn and Ronald; and sister, LaVon.
