DATCP Accepting Nominations for Produce Safety Advisory Council

(Madison) The Wisconsin Department of Trade and Consumer Protection is now accepting nominations for the Produce Safety Advisory Council. Two representative seats are available: one as a representative of a nonprofit education and one as a representative of a produce business.

Members of the PSAC serve two-year terms and the council meets quarterly. The council advises the Division of Food and Recreational Safety in establishing and achieving produce safety goals, represents constituency groups, and recommends solutions to challenges facing Wisconsin produce growers in complying with the Produce Safety Rule.

Members are expected to attend all full meetings and subcommittees as assigned. The council meets every third Wednesday of the month in February, May, August, and November.

The PSAC chair will evaluate nominees in consultation with the DATCP and present recommendations to the council for review and approval. Official notifications will be sent of PSAC appointment and new members are expected to start their term at the next quarterly meeting.

Nomination forms should explain why nominees would be a valuable addition and include two letters of support. Nominations will be accepted until all vacancies are filled.
