CWC Baseball Off To Solid Start

The Central Wisconsin Christian baseball team has jumped out to a 3-2 record in 2022 in just their 2nd varsity season.

The Crusaders started their baseball program with a middle school program about five or six years ago.  They were supposed to play a JV schedule in 2020 but COVID wiped that out. Their 2021 season saw them finish with a winning record of 8-6 and defeat Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah 8-1 in the Regional Tournament.

“It’s been a longtime coming that we tried to get this program started.  There’s a lot of excitement within our student body.  The guys that are playing, but also fans coming out to the game.” Head Coach Mark Vander Werff told  “We’ve been well supported by the community as well.  It’s a really good thing.”

Senior Jacob Guhlke was an Honorable Mention All-Trailways North selection as a junior.

So far this season the Crusaders swept a doubleheader from Cambria-Friesland and dropped a twin bill to Lourdes Academy.  On April 16th, CWC outslugged Kohler 15-11 in the cold.  In the game, Kaden Swann hit the first over the fence home run in program history.
