(Beaver Dam) There is a contested race for the Wisconsin Assembly District 37 seat. It pits Democratic candidate LaToya Bates against the Republican incumbent Mark Born.
Bates says if elected, she will fight for every person of the 37th assembly district.
โMy goal is to see a Wisconsin where we can communicate effectivelyโฆwhere you can come to me with questions or issues and Iโm going to fight to help you to overcome the barriersโฆIโm going to be supportiveโฆIโm going to be easily accessible,โ says Bates. โIโm going to be in Mayvilleโฆand in Beaver Damโฆand Waupunโฆand all through the very small nugget of Columbia County and in Fond du Lac that we haveโฆand I donโt want to just be in my officeโฆI want to be connected to all of the people that are represented.โ
Born says he will take the common-sense, conservative values of this district to Madison if reelected.
โAnd thatโs exactly what Iโve doneโฆand I have the record to stand by for that whether it be investing in some of the priorities like educationโฆother ones like healthcareโฆlocal roadsโฆbroadbandโฆa number of issues that people tell me locally are important to them,โ says Born. โItโs a real honor to represent the communities that I grew up inโฆin the Wisconsin State AssemblyโฆI donโt take that lightly. It is not a parttime jobโฆitโs very much a fulltime job that I put significant hours into because I recognize the importance of representing you all in Madison and I will continue to do that to the best of my abilities.โ
Polls open at 7am on Election Day, which is next Tuesday, November 5th.
