Contested Race For Wisconsin Assembly District 37

(Beaver Dam) There is a contested race for the Wisconsin Assembly District 37 seat. It pits Democratic candidate LaToya Bates against the Republican incumbent Mark Born.

Bates says if elected, she will fight for every person of the 37th assembly district.

โ€œMy goal is to see a Wisconsin where we can communicate effectivelyโ€ฆwhere you can come to me with questions or issues and Iโ€™m going to fight to help you to overcome the barriersโ€ฆIโ€™m going to be supportiveโ€ฆIโ€™m going to be easily accessible,โ€ says Bates. โ€œIโ€™m going to be in Mayvilleโ€ฆand in Beaver Damโ€ฆand Waupunโ€ฆand all through the very small nugget of Columbia County and in Fond du Lac that we haveโ€ฆand I donโ€™t want to just be in my officeโ€ฆI want to be connected to all of the people that are represented.โ€

Born says he will take the common-sense, conservative values of this district to Madison if reelected.

โ€œAnd thatโ€™s exactly what Iโ€™ve doneโ€ฆand I have the record to stand by for that whether it be investing in some of the priorities like educationโ€ฆother ones like healthcareโ€ฆlocal roadsโ€ฆbroadbandโ€ฆa number of issues that people tell me locally are important to them,โ€ says Born. โ€œItโ€™s a real honor to represent the communities that I grew up inโ€ฆin the Wisconsin State Assemblyโ€ฆI donโ€™t take that lightly. It is not a parttime jobโ€ฆitโ€™s very much a fulltime job that I put significant hours into because I recognize the importance of representing you all in Madison and I will continue to do that to the best of my abilities.โ€

Polls open at 7am on Election Day, which is next Tuesday, November 5th.
