(Beaver Dam) The Dodge County Sheriff says there has been strong community support in an effort to install security cameras at Swan City Park. Earlier this month, the Beaver Dam Rotary Clubโs Christmas light display at the park was vandalized. Damages were estimated at approximately $3,000.
Sheriff Dale Schmidt, who is also the chair of the Rotary Lights Committee, says in the days since there has been a tremendous outpouring of support.
Schmidt says he was contacted by John McKinstry who has pledged $3,000 to replace all damaged items at the park. Kaul Refrigeration intends to make a $500 donation and a Go Fund Me page has raised over $835 so far. Schmidt says while the electrical service for a surveillance system was not included in the quote for cameras, a Clyman business has offered to help. He says United Electric has offered to donate up to $5,000 in electrical work to power the new camera system.
Checks can be made out to the city of Beaver Dam Rotary Lights and in the memo section write: Camera Program or Wi-Fi Program.
