(Beaver Dam) The Community Foundations in both Beaver Dam and Fond du Lac have announced a Rural Vitality Grant. The grant is in partnership with Compeer Financial and aims to support the strength and stability of rural communities.
There is a total of $50-thousand-dollars available in the fall grant cycle and applications can range from $500 to $25-thousand-dollars.
To be eligible, nonprofits must use grant funds on building projects, have projects that are planned and moving forward, the application must also have broad community support as well as financial investments.
Approved project areas include agriculture, community development, small business development, housing expansion, youth and adult leadership development, rural school education, and workforce development.
The Rural Vitality Grant focuses on helping communities of less than 10,000 people or rural micropolitans of less than 50,000 people to create and maintain an active, strong, and thriving economy.
Schools in Dodge and Fond du Lac counties can also apply. Foundation officials note that the cities of Beaver Dam and Fond du Lac are ineligible due to population. Applications must be submitted by September 29th.

The Foundation says applicants will, for the first time, utilize their new GoApply online grant portal. The online portal allows nonprofits to create an organization user profile and apply for active grant opportunities.
They add that setting up a user account for the organization is the first required step to becoming a user, and a user guide is available on the FDLAF website to make the process easy to follow. The portal features a simple interface that directs users through step-by-step instructions on how to apply.
