Columbus Police Seek Motorist Who Struck Crossing Guard November 29, 2022November 29, 2022 by Daily Dodge (Columbus) Columbus officials are reminding the public about safe driving around schools after a crossing guard was recently injured. The incident occurred during an early release at 1:13pm last Wednesday on West James Street and Dickason Boulevard. The crossing guard had just finished safely guiding two children across the street and was still in the roadway when the vehicle struck. The crossing guard was wearing a high visibility vest and had a hand-held stop sign. The suspect vehicle was a white, four-door Jeep and the female driver did not stop and continued traveling eastbound. The driver apparently had a physical reaction and facial expression that indicated she was aware what had happened but continued driving anyway. The crossing guard sustained minor injuries. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbus Police Department at 920-623-5919 or the anonymous Columbia County Crimestoppers at 800-293-TIPS [8477].
