Columbus Officer Injured During Investigation

9/10/12 – A Columbus Police officer was injured Saturday morning after struggling with a suspect being interview in connection with the burglary of a downtown business. The 21-year-old man entered the business and was acting suspiciously. The two then walked to the suspects East James Street apartment but the man fled while being interviewed. The officer chased the man, a brief struggle took place, and the officer fell to the ground and injured his shoulder. The suspect fled to his apartment. A tactical team was called in but the suspect surrendered a short time later without further incident. Charges of Resisting Arrest and Bail Jumping are being forwarded to the Columbia County DA
