Columbus Fire Department Receives Donation To Help Update Attack Hose Lines

(Columbus) The Columbus Fire Department recently received a donation that will help them better fight fires. Recently, Columbus Chemical Industries Chairman of the Board Richard Sheard discussed with Deputy Fire Chief Jerrod Fox about agency needs.

One of the bigger needs outlined was firefighter attack hoses, as the department has 47 rolls that are over 17 years of age. After learning this, Fox says Sheard and his company were gracious enough to donate $10,000 to get new fire hose attack lines and also spare hoses in the next few months.

The deputy chief adds that this will help Columbus Fire rotate out over half of their inventory.

Fox notes that every year, these hoses are tested to ensure they can withstand the pressure needed to fight any fires they may be called out to. He says their department thanks Richard Sheard and the employees at Columbus Chemical for this donation.
