(Columbus) The Columbus Public Works Department sought approval from the city council to purchase a new deck trailer at a recent committee meeting. The trailer would hall the cityโs skid steer, tool cat, roller, and future mini excavator and would replace the current one that is old and undersized.
The department is looking to purchase the new trailer from Mid-State Equipment for $15,445. Superintendent of Public Works Troy Kehoe says he received quotes from two other dealers aside from Mid-State.
โ[The] first two were pretty comparable,โ says Kehoe. โSame size trailer. The third one from Brooks [Tractors Inc.] was a little heavier duty, which we really donโt need. It was a lot more expensive.โ
The quote from Brooks Tractors Incorporated was $24,450 and the quote from Bradford and Risberg Incorporated was $16,962. There is $20,000 in the approved 2024 city budget to buy the trailer.ย ย
The purchase of the trailer was moved forward to the council for a vote at the next meeting.
