Columbus Council Discusses Amendment To Clock Tower Maintenance Agreement

(Columbus) The Columbus City Council discussed an amendment to a clock tower maintenance agreement at a recent committee of the whole meeting. The original agreement was approved in 2018 with John Salzwedel to maintain the clock tower at City Hall. Salzwedel is requesting an increase in the contract which saw its last bump in 2021.

The increase would move the monthly inspection fee from $250 dollars to $325 dollars and his hourly rate for repairs from $38 dollars to $50 dollars per hour. Alderwoman Trina Reid supports the change.

โ€œI feel like itโ€™s a pretty rare skillset to be able to maintain a clock tower, and that we might have to look quite a ways in the distance than have to pay someone to make the drive out.โ€

The matter was moved forward to the next council meeting for a vote.
