(Columbus) The Columbus Council has awarded Vandewalle and Associates the rewrite of the city zoning code and subdivision. A review team comprised of city officials recommended the Madison-based urban planning department after reviewing five other proposals.
The budget for the project is $150,000 and will be spread out over the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years. The request for proposal asked that zoning and subdivision code be updated to reflect the goals of the comprehensive plan, to reflect changes in state statute, modernize code and streamline city development processes.
At a special committee meeting Alderwoman Trina Reid says that while she likes the proposal, she expressed concerns about it being rushed.ย
โI just feel so uncomfortable with us looking at this for our first official go around and then the immediate vote,โ says Reid. โThatโs my only complaint.โ
The matter would pass by a 3 to 1 vote at the regular council meeting, to not exceed $129,090.ย
