(Columbus) The Columbus Council approved a purchase agreement for property on West James Street. The benefits of the potential sale of 1149 West James Street for $280-thousand-dollars include getting a prime commercial property on a tax roll, retaining a local business, and creating new business spaces for additional commercial growth.
The developer plans to turn the old Countryside Ford dealership into a multi-tenant layout where their business is in a portion of the facility while also developing two to three rentable suites for potential retail or business use.
“From what I have read and looked at, this just makes sense, and it’s a positive move for the city going forward,” says Mayor Joe Hammer.
Alderwoman Molly Finkler agrees
“I think this is a good idea, and I think that seems to be,” Finkler says. “I know there has been concerns about the public not being made aware of this.”
The measure passed on a 3 to 1 vote.
