Columbia County Authorities Make Arrest In Year Old Homicide Case

(Wyocena) Columbia County authorities have made an arrest in a nearly year-old homicide investigation. Sheriff’s deputies were contacted by family of Alice Langer on October 6th last year after they could not get in touch with her.

A welfare check was conducted and law enforcement found the 76-year-old deceased inside her town of Wyocena home from a gunshot wound to the head. Sheriff’s officials say during the investigation, detectives determined that the circumstances surrounding the women’s death were suspicious based on evidence recovered.

They add that they continued to investigate Langer’s death and on September 15th arrested Larry Manthe. The 79-year-old Manthe and Langer were reportedly living together and in a long-term relationship at the time of the incident. It was also learned that Langer intended to end the relationship and move out of the residence.

Manthe was transported to the Columbia County Jail where he faces a First-Degree Intentional Homicide charge.
