Church Health Services Receives State Grant

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam non-profit recently received funding from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The state agency has awarded $5.1-million-dollars in grants to 14 non-profit dental clinics to increase access to dental care for residents.

Church Health Services was one of those 14 non-profits. The release did not indicate how much money they are in line for, but noted that grant awards range from $59-thousand-to-$150-thousand-dollars.

Officials with Health Services say the grant funds will be spread out over three years and will enable each clinic to serve more children and families in need. Church Health Services provides dental, medical, and mental health services to low-income children and adults living in South Central Wisconsin.

The stateโ€™s Dental Director Dr. Russell Dunkel says by making it easier for dental health providers to serve more Medicaid and uninsured patients, they aim to address a critical disparity.

In 2021, only one in three Wisconsin Medicaid members ages three-to-20 received a preventive dental service and in that same year, seven out of 10 Medicaid members did not receive dental care.
