Celebrate Waupun Returns Friday

(Waupun) The 11th annual Celebrate Waupun festival kicks off this Friday. The three-day event is held at Tanner Park and features a carnival, food, music, a cornhole tournament, fireworks, and more. President of Waupun Festivals Nick Rusch says they also lined up a Wild World of Animals Show featuring exotic and fun animals that will be in the park all three days.

“That’s the attraction that we’re bringing this year…that is exotic animals…that’s turtles, that’s reptiles, that’s alligators, that’s birds,” says Rusch. “Looking at 15 to 16 different exotic animals. Those that are from the Fond du Lac County area, perhaps you saw them at Walleye Weekend. Well, they’re coming to our town…to Waupun to put on great shows again Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.”

Rusch says they will be doing three shows a day. He adds that Mayor Rohn Bishop will be leading guided tours of the city’s sculptures.

“So, you can take a tour…it’s free…by trolley,” says Rusch. “Rohn narrates it and he talks about each one of the statues. We have that at one o’clock, three o’clock, and five o’clock on Saturday afternoon. Just a great opportunity to see the entire city, see the statues, and understand the meaning behind some of them.”

Rusch say a megaband wristband will be available at the Piggly Wiggly store in Waupun through noon Thursday for $50 that will allow you unlimited access at the carnival; otherwise it will be $75 when things start Friday. He also says tickets for Friday’s fish fry are available in advance at Fox Valley Savings Bank.
