(Dodge County) With severe winter weather over the last few days, it was a busy stretch for local law enforcement. Despite a number of sheriff officeโs around the area asking citizens to stay home, some drivers braved the snow and cold to hit the roads.
Dodge County sheriffโs deputies responded to 65 vehicle runoffs last Friday, at least five accidents, roughly 20 motorist assist calls, and a fire. Through a portion of the day Friday the Columbia County Sheriffโs Office handled over 30 weather related calls for assistance. Fond du Lac County Sheriffโs deputies handled nearly 60 cars in the ditch, 14 accidents, a hit-and-run, report of a powerline down, a wrong-way driver complaint, and at least 10 disabled vehicles. The cities of Waupun, and the villages of Lomira and Campbellsport issued snow emergency declarations. Because of the volume of vehicles that went off area roads some counties issued tow bans.ย
