Born Seeks 8th Term in Wisconsin Assembly

(BEAVER DAM) State Rep. Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) is running for reelection. The seven-term lawmaker told Daily Dodge that there’s more work for him to do in Madison. He said he wants Wisconsin to make what he called strategic key investments in education and roads. He said it’s also important to keep Wisconsin competitive with other states.

“Because if we’re not competitive with tax and regulatory policy to keep our economy growing, we simply won’t have the resources to make sure that our schools are building the workforce for the future of our state, or our roads and infrastructure are able to support our economic needs,” said Born.

Born’s public service career began on the Beaver Dam Common Council from 2005 to 2009. He was first elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2012, representing the 39th District, then later the 37th District following redistricting. He was previously employed by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department.

Born has become a key Republican leader, serving since 2021 as Assembly co-chair of the Joint Finance Committee, one of the state’s most influential panels.

The only other candidate in the race to date is Democrat LaToya Bates.
