Boat Destroyed By Fire On Fox Lake; Four Juveniles Escape Without Injury

FOX LAKE – Four juveniles escaped injury after a boat caught fire on Fox Lake Sunday morning.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received numerous 911 calls shortly before 11AM reporting a boat fully engulfed in flames on Fox Lake in the Town of Fox Lake.

Authorities say the juvenile operator and three juvenile passengers were able to jump into the water before being rescued by nearby boaters. The Fox Lake Fire Department then towed the burning boat to shore, where firefighters extinguished the fire. The vessel was later removed from the lake by a towing company.

Investigators say there is no indication the occupants’ actions or inactions contributed to the fire. The sheriff’s office says the boat had been purchased the previous day and was being operated legally by the juvenile driver. An onboard fire extinguisher was used in an attempt to put out the flames but was unsuccessful.

Also assisting at the scene were the Fox Lake Police Department, Fox Lake EMS, and Randolph EMS.
