Big Inning Lifts Waupun Past Beaver Dam

Waupun used a five run third inning to double up Beaver Dam 6-3 in Badgerland High School Summer League action on Wednesday night at Gus Thompson Field.

Beaver Dam jumped out to a two nothing lead with single runs in the 2nd and 3rd.  In the 2nd Jeffrey Bemis got down a suicide squeeze to score Eli Wilke, then in the third Broden Boschert’s RBI groundout made it 2-0.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Baron Buchholz’s hammered a bases loaded single off the top of the wall in left to plate Austin Wiese.   Jarrett Buchholz’s walked to score to Wyatt Paul and Noah Gerrtison knocked in a pair with an RBI single to open up the game.  Brayden Sanders added RBI single of his own to complete the five-run frame.

In the top half of the 5th, BD tried to come back as Drew Pawicz laced a two out RBI single to right scoring Wes Biel, but that’s as close as they would get.  Keegan Hartgerink’s sac fly in the bottom of the 5th was deep enough to score Baron Buchholz for the games final run.

Brayden Sanders struck out 9 and gave up 10 hits and 3 runs to pick up the complete game victory.  Alex Soto also went the distance for BD, giving up just four hits and six runs (5 earned) and one strikeout.

The win improves Waupun to 12-3 on the season.  They will host Randolph on Thursday night at The Gus.  The first pitch is set for 6:30pm.   Beaver Dam (5-4) will travel to Fond du Lac on Thursday night.  You can hear that game on 1430 WBEV and also watch the videostream at DailyDodge.com presented by Columbus Family Dental and Kevin Carnine, Your American Family Insurance Agent.  The first pitch is also set for 6:30pm.
