(BEAVER DAM) The Beaver Dam Common Council appointed Larry Bierke, MPA, as the city’s next administrator Monday night. Bierke says he plans to be an active member of the community as soon as possible.
“In this career, it’s all about building relationships with the community,” Bierke told Daily Dodge. “I’ve made significant efforts in the past to be a part of the community, and I think Beaver Dam has been very welcoming.”
Bierke joins Beaver Dam with more than two decades of executive local government leadership, including service as County Administrator for Iowa County, City Manager for the City of Platteville, Village Administrator for the Village of Mount Horeb, and City Administrator for the City of Hillsboro.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Larry to Beaver Dam,” said Mayor Bobbi Marck in a press release. “He brings extensive municipal leadership experience, a strong track record of partnerships with staff, elected officials, and community organizations, and a results-oriented approach that will serve our residents and businesses well.”
Bierke succeeds Nathan Thiel, who was Beaver Dam’s first administrator from 2022 until May. Jay Shambeau, a partner in the consulting firm coordinating the search effort has been serving as acting administrator. Bierke will begin his duties on Sept. 16.
