(Watertown) The Bentzin Family Town Square in Watertown will be celebrating its one year anniversary since unveiling its revitalized design.
The one-acre property, located at 1 West Main Street, formerly housed a hair salon, pharmacy, restaurant, karate studio, and the printing press and offices of the local newspaper. The city used funding to update the space from the DNR’s Wisconsin Assessment Monies program and Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Grant, as well as over $2-million in additional dollars from other sources. Environmental investigations identified petroleum-contaminated soil prior to cleanup and demolition of the site. After almost a decade of planning, the official ribbon cutting for the Bentzin Family Town Square was held last May.
The anniversary event will include food and beverage from various vendors, music, a comedy show, face painting, chair messages, a bounce house, and an ultimate 80’s experience. It will be held on May 18th from 11am to 7pm at the Bentzin Family Town Square.
