Beaver Dam Woman Convicted Of Running From Police

(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam woman was found guilty Tuesday of running from police. Kimberly Stevens pled guilty to one felony count of Fleeing and Eluding a Traffic Officer and misdemeanor charge of possession of THC. Two additional charges of misdemeanor Resisting an Officer and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia was dismissed but read into the record. Police were dispatched to the Pizza Hut on Industrial Drive last December. A woman reported that Stevens was harassing her sister for money, saying she would rob the store if she did not get it. The victim believes Stevens wanted the money for drugs but Stevens says she wanted it to go shopping. Stevens has a suspended license and when the police officer asked how she got to the store, the suspect put the vehicle in drive and sped away. A chase ensued down Highway 151 reaching speeds of 85-miles-per-hour before she exited at Highway 33 and ended the pursuit near Walker’s Restaurant. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted and Stevens was arrested at gunpoint. She struggled with the officer as he restrained her. A crack pipe was found in her vehicle and marijuana was in her jacket was she was searched at the jail. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 19.
