(BEAVER DAM) Beaver Dam residents may notice discolored or cloudy water this week. Utility staff will begin flushing fire hydrants in various parts of the city starting Monday, September 22nd.
Flushing will take place between 6:30am and 3:30pm Monday through Friday and continue through October 3rd. Some weekend flushing may take place.
Water discoloration is caused by minerals and other sediments that have collected in the water mains over several months being dislodged. The water is not harmful to drink but may cause laundry stains.
Utility officials say leaving taps or a garden hose on full flow for a short time should clear the cloudiness. If the water doesn’t clear, citizens should call the Water Utility at 920-887-4624.
