(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam VFW Post 1163 recently presented awards for its annual Patriot’s Pen Contest. This year’s essay theme was “My Voice in America’s Democracy”. Conducted nationwide, this VFW-sponsored youth essay competition gives students an opportunity to express their views on an annual patriotic theme. Over 73,000 students participated last year. In addition, awards are given at the local, district, and state levels.
